Strain Hunters Seed Bank is founded by Arjan, Simon and Franco, in collaboration with Green House Seeds. The Strain Hunters team travels to the most remote places in the world in search of native cannabis species to preserve and offer them to all cannabis growers around the world and leave a legacy, so that future generations can enjoy these magnificent marijuana strains.

It was in 2008 when they started a series of documentaries Strain Hunters, to show the world what they wanted to show the world indigenous cannabis strains from different countries and to show why cannabis should be legal. After several years of searching and expeditions, in 2017, unfortunately Franco passed away from malaria. After this tragedy Arjan took a break and stopped recording until 2021, where Simon, Dust and Oscar joined him on an expedition in South Africa.

The aim of hunters is to identify, locate and recover landrace strains of cannabis. Varieties that have not been studied, in order to provide scientists and doctors with something with which to continue studying and improving their knowledge of the cannabis plant in the medical field.

Hunter tries to recover and preserve pure strains of cannabis seeds, cannabis is one of the oldest plants known to man, but is at great risk of extinction. His aim is to preserve these genetics, as they may one day be very useful for medicinal purposes.

Strain hunters and the fight for cannabis legalisation

Already years ago, the United Nations published in official reports that the intention was to eliminate cannabis from the face of the earth by the year 2010. But this is almost impossible to happen because people continue to use cannabis for medicinal, religious and recreational purposes, even though laws prohibit it.

For many cultures, it is very difficult to understand that a plant can be made illegal. And Hunters fights for this not to happen.

Hunters has explored more than 10 different countries and in their search for indigenous marijuana strains, they have collected more than 25 different marijuana seed strains.

Malawi Expedition 2008

The first Hunters expedition took place in the African country of Malawi.
