HISTORY OF THE FEMALE SEED BANK

Female Seeds is a seed bank that started marketing its cannabis genetics in 2003. But Ferry, its founder, started making seeds much earlier, back in the 80’s while he was studying, he earned some extra income by selling his own seeds.

In the late 80’s, Ferry started working at Positronics, where he expanded his knowledge in the world of marijuana and created several new genetics for them.

A few years later, in the 1990s, he turned his hobby into a cannabis seed yield business. At that time, Ferry was selling his seeds to other seed banks.

The experience Ferry gained during those years, plus his engineering studies, led him to investigate how to create feminised marijuana seeds.

Not only is he a pioneer in feminised cannabis seeds, but already in the nineties Ferry started experimenting with Ruderalis strains, with the intention of creating marijuana strains with a very fast flowering time.

Success in the 90’s

In 1990 Ferry wanted to develop an outdoor variety that would be very fast, so that he could avoid the problems of harvesting in September in Holland. His development was a success and he succeeded in creating the well-known Easy Sativa strain, which was a runaway success in the Netherlands and around Europe.

Years later, in 1993, Ferry co-founded Nirvana Seeds, where he began to create and develop new cannabis strains. The following year, 1994, he created one of the most legendary cannabis strains, the ICE®, a Skunk-based strain. ICE®, a Skunk-based strain, is a very productive and potent strain (already in 1998 it scored 22% THC in the High Times Cannabis Cup). Ferry worked for years developing strains and creating unique and legendary genetics in the cannabis world.

YEAR 2003, FOUNDATION OF THE FEMALE SEED BANK.

In the year 2000, Ferry had greatly improved his techniques in feminising marijuana seeds and decided to launch the first feminised marijuana seeds on the market. In 2003 he decided to create his own seed bank FEMALE SEEDS.

The first feminized strain he introduced to the Female catalogue was his legendary ICE, created for Nirvana Seeds in regular version. Other varieties that followed were C’99 and Grapefruit, with the creation of these seeds, the world understood that something new was happening in the world of cannabis, feminized seeds!
