Grotek Pro-Silicate: plants built to carry the harvest
Branches bending under heavy buds, leaves drooping as soon as the temperature climbs… Often the root cause is weak tissue. Pro-Silicate from Grotek supplies what most soilless grows lack: soluble silica, which plants build into their cell walls, plus potassium. The result is firmer stems and plants better equipped to handle stress.
Why silicon?
- Stronger cell walls: plants store silicon in their tissue, making it firmer.
- Stems that hold up: ideal for high-yielding strains with heavy buds.
- Better tolerance of heat and water stress, according to the manufacturer.
- Extra potassium (K₂O 4%), valuable during flowering.
Soil often contains silicon naturally. In hydroponics and coco it is almost always missing, which is where Pro-Silicate makes the biggest difference.

Dosage and directions
- Dose: 2.5 to 5 ml per 4 litres of water, about 0.6 to 1.25 ml per litre.
- Always first: add Pro-Silicate to plain water before any other nutrient, stir, then add the rest.
- Watch the pH: it is a strong base that raises pH. Adjust to 5.5–6.5, then check the complete solution again.
- Never neat with concentrated nutrients: if the reservoir already contains nutrients, pre-dilute Pro-Silicate in a little water and add it slowly while stirring.
In your Grotek programme
Pro-Silicate does not replace your base nutrient. Pair it with Grotek Solo-Tek Grow during growth and Grotek Solo-Tek Bloom during flowering. In coco or with reverse-osmosis water, add Grotek Cal-Max. Browse the full range in our Grotek nutrients category.
FAQ
Why add Pro-Silicate first?
Because it raises pH sharply. Mixed directly with concentrated nutrients it can cause precipitation. Adding it first to plain water and then adjusting the pH avoids the problem.
Do I need it in soil?
You can use it, but it is most useful in hydroponics and coco, where the growing medium supplies no silicon.
How much solution does 1 litre make?
Up to 2,000 litres at the lowest dose.
