DISADVANTAGES OF GROWING AUTOFLOWERING SEED

If everything was so perfect, nobody would grow feminised, photodependent seeds. But what are the disadvantages of growing auto seeds?

• Less yielding, autos are less yielding than photodependent varieties. They are smaller and faster, but also give less quantity.
• Less THC, autos are evolving very fast, but for the moment they are still less potent than regular strains.
• They cannot be cloned, you cannot make cuttings from autoflowering seeds.
• We can’t decide the height, they flower automatically, which we can’t cut the growth cycle as they do it by themselves.
• They need more hours of light. If you grow them indoors, the ideal way to get higher yields is to have them at 20 hours of light, which will mean higher electricity consumption. If you grow outdoors, it is better to plant them in places where they get more light.

HOW TO GROW AUTOFLOWERING SEEDS INDOORS?

To grow autoflowering seed indoors, we must be clear about the parameters and needs of this type of cannabis plant.

LIGHT CYCLE FOR AUTOMATICS

We will respect a cycle of 18 hours of light / 6 hours of darkness. For better yields, we could increase the light cycle to 20 hours.

In the cultivation of auto plants, we should not change the light cycle, we will maintain these hours of light from germination to harvest.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GROW CARS IN 12 HOURS OF LIGHT?

Yes, you can grow automatic seeds in 12 hours of light, but don’t expect great results.

TEMPERATURE FOR GROWING AUTOMATICS INDOORS

Autoflowering cannabis plants need a constant temperature of between 21 and 25ºC. As much as they are more resistant to cold, we do not advise you to stay below 19ºC and never above 26ºC either.

IDEAL HUMIDITY FOR AUTOFLOWERING PLANTS INDOORS

During the growth phase, automatic cannabis plants need to have a high humidity level, ideally between 55-65%.

In the flowering phase, however, we must be careful that it is not too high, otherwise the buds may rot. The ideal for flowering is between 40 and 50%.

POTS FOR GROWING AUTOMATICS INDOORS

To grow automatic seeds indoors, it is best to grow them in an 11-litre pot, as this is where you will get the best yields.

If you don’t want to use so much substrate, the minimum we recommend is a 7 litre pot.

Tip: Autos are very sensitive to transplanting, our top tip is that once your seeds have germinated, plant them directly into the final pot.

HOW TO GROW AUTOFLOWERING SEEDS OUTDOORS?

We can grow autoflowering cannabis outdoors almost any time of the year. The only thing to avoid is frost, as cannabis plants are not resistant to cold.

We can grow autoflowering plants outdoors from February to September.

For best yields when growing autoflowering, it is best to plant them in May and June, the months with the most daylight hours and the highest yields.

POTS FOR GROWING AUTOMATICS OUTDOORS

The ideal for growing autos outdoors is to use 18 or 25 litre pots, the minimum we recommend for automatics outdoors is 11 litre pots.

Tip: Autos are very sensitive to transplanting, our top tip is that once your seeds have germinated, plant them directly into the final pot.

AUTOFLOWERING FOR WINTER

Many customers ask us about cannabis seed for winter, but is it possible to grow autoflowering cannabis in winter? The answer is yes, as we mentioned before, they do not need light changes to flower, so they will flower at any time or season of the year, but be careful, we can only grow autoflowering cannabis during the winter when we do it in a greenhouse or in countries where the winter is not too cold. Remember that the temperature can never be below 18ºC.
